Frost watch
Of course since we battled the wind Tuesday to cover the garden beds and bring a few flowers in the house, we still haven't had a freeze. As a matter of fact, exactly one plant has turned black so far, and guess which one it is? The chaste tree (bush) I wrote about the other day. It still had unopened buds.
We have another chance of frost tonight and we'll be in danger again this weekend, so it's inevitable.
I just went out to check the covers we put on the raised beds Tuesday, and they're intact. Phil insists on stapling, duct taping, or screwing everything down, so I haven't tried to open them up to fresh air or sunshine yet. We're going to have to come up with something easier to put on and take off.
I stuck my finger through a hole in one of the covers and was surprised at how warm it was inside. I really need to pursue the cold frame concept.
