For those who wouldn't hurt a fly
For the most part I have a live-and-let-live philosophy when it comes to the creatures I encounter, which has caused me a good amount of harassment. When Danny and Lance were still at home, all spiders found in the house were called "Mom's spiders" in a tone of disgust. My first choice is to ignore them, but if the men are threatening to kill them I will try to trap them in a paper towel and carry them outside. Yes, I've been known to do the same with flies. (I'm not as tolerant of mosquitoes, wasps, and ants.)
I know I'm not the only one, though. For proof, check out this link for the long-handled spider catcher. "A double ring of soft bristles encircles and gently traps spiders so that they can be relocated and released unharmed," it says. You have to look at the photos to see how it works.
